The MADCA is managed by the management committee. The management committee is supported by a number of sub-committees and groups.
The management committee is responsible for ensuring that the MADCA complies with its rules and requirements under the consititution, such as calling and holding meetings, acting honestly and in the best interests of the association and the community, and for exercising care, skill and diligence in carrying out their roles on behalf of the association and the community. Whilst the president has an important role as the leader within the organisation and is supported by the Vice President, under the Associations Incorporation ACT, every member of the management committee who is acting in the association's proper business is considered to be an agent of the association.
Max has had an academic career with Griffith University as a Professor of Physics and Pro-Vice Chancellor for science and technology, health and the University’s Gold Coast and Logan campuses. He has been Chair of Regional Development Australia, Logan and Redlands and more recently the Sunshine Coast. He has research interests in quantum physics and is also interested in astronomy, climate change, renewable technologies, and regional development.
He and his spouse Catherine have been Mapleton residents since 2013. Max is committed to maintaining the iconic character of the villages, protecting the outstanding natural landscape, and supporting a thriving and sustainable future for Mapleton and the wider Blackall Range community.
Peter has been a local resident since 2017 and retired in 2021. His background is in Electronic Engineering, Management Consulting and Business & Marketing Coaching across multiple industries. He has served in the RAAF, for major corporations and has run his own businesses.
He has undertaken grass roots community development and charity work in Kenya and also in PNG where he still maintains an interest in assisting remote communities.
Shane has lived on a 1.6 Hectare property near Mapleton since August 2020. He grew up on a cattle property in the Brisbane Valley, part of which he continues to operate as a beef cattle enterprise.
He has worked for Telecom/Telstra for most of his adult life in the roles of Field Technician, Technical Officer, Network Manager and Quality Assurance Manager. He has qualifications in engineering, management, lead auditor in quality management, and Cert 4 in Health, Safety & Environment.
Since a young age, Shane has taken lead roles within community organisations including – President of Mooretown Rodeo, Treasurer of Brookfield State School P and C, St Stephen’s College P and F, Editor of Kureelpa Dulong Mapleton Neighbourhood Watch newsletter and MADCA Treasurer.
During her working life Lyndall worked in a range of government and non- government organisations; principally in the field of Community Development.
After retirement in 2012 Lyndall continued to be involved with community sector organisations, through her membership of their management committees.
Currently Lyndall is a member of the management committee of the Range Community Gym and Fitness Centre and the Sunshine Coast Coalition of Community Boards. In her spare time she practices visual arts through her membership of Blackall Range Visual Artists. Lyndall spends time with her 2 adult children and 6 grandchildren as often as she can.
Wendy is a retired teacher with a specialisation in music.
She is passionate about sharing opportunities within the community, to be involved in the environment and creative arts opportunities on the Range.
From a first visit to the area in the early 1980's Wendy fell in love with the locality and was delighted to have the opportunity to make Mapleton her home.
Wendy enjoys her involvement with a variety of different interest groups, contributing towards achieving a common purpose and creating enriched opportunities for community participation. An early adopter of communications technologies, she was delighted to take on the role of Communications Officer for the MADCA.
Peter lived in Brisbane before retireing with his wife to Mapleton in 2013. He and Lyndall have two adult children and six grandchildren, all of which bring joy. Peter worked in Special Education for more than 40 years with Education Queensland and Griffith University. His areas of interest are early intervention for students with disabilities and inclusive education especially for students with an intellectual impairment.
Throughout his life he has been involved with various community organisations. In 2013 Peter worked collaboratively with other men in the Mapleton community and the Sunshine Coast Regional Council to establish the Mapleton Men’s Shed. He is still an active member of the Shed as well as the Mapleton Community Gym. In his spare time he enjoys woodworking in his home workshop.
Marissa worked as a medical physicist in Brisbane before retiring to Mapleton in 2021. Her time is now spent in home renovations, socializing and volunteering.
She is still often amazed by how lucky she is to be living in Australia, in general, and Mapleton, in particular; and is happy to help out to keep things that way.
Leigh has resided in Mapleton since late 2020. This follows a lengthy search of SE Qld, seeking a fertile, acreage property, in an attractive, friendly semi-rural community. Mapleton was the perfect choice.
With a Masters degrees in leadership and education, Leigh has enjoyed a 40-year career in Qld and Victoria, as teacher, deputy principal and principal, always with strong focus on building community, within the school and wider community. These communities include the Brisbane and Lockyer Valleys, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Logan, outback and Mornington Peninsula.
Leigh values contributing to community, undertaking roles from Treasurer of QAGTC, electoral officer, library volunteer, to committee member of P & Cs, Maleny Garden Club and MADCA.
Cal has lived in Mapleton since December 2005. She is a keen gardener and believes in practising a healthy lifestyle through being a member of the gym and walking in the village with the Mapleton Movers. Being involved in community activities is important to Cal. Being part of the Red Dress Day was a stand out. As a volunteer on the waffles stand at the Mapleton Country Market, Cal loves to meet locals and visitors.
Cal taught in primary and secondary schools from the Atherton Tableland to SE Queensland. She moved into Information Technology and was employed by TAFE and the Qld Police Service as an Information Systems Project Manager. In 1999 she went to the USA and worked in IT for over three years. On returning to Australia she retired and moved to Mapleton to enjoy village life.
Max Standage is the MADCA representative to OSCAR (Organisation of Sunshine Coast Association Residents). OSCAR is a non-partisan umbrella organisation representing member resident associations united by their determination that the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Planning Schemes serve the public interest.
